REGULAR MEETING OF THE KILLDEER CITY COM
REGULAR MEETING OF THE KILLDEER CITY COMMISSION February 6th, 2023 Commission President Joel Spethman called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM. Commissioner’s present were Kelly Summerfield, Joe Hurt, Logan Wallace, and Greg Nordsven. Nate Bouray, Katie Williams, Ryan Hauck, Cameron Deperalta, Carie Boster, Joe Schettler, Steve Pletan, Delry Schwalbe, and Paige Burian were also among those present with Brett Morlok present via conference call. Commission President Joel Spethman asked for the Commission and audience to join in the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioner Nordsven moved to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Commissioner Hurt. The consent agenda consisted of the minutes of the January 23rd, 2023 regular meeting and bills. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C West Dunn Fire Department Fire Chief Ryan Hauck discussed with the Commission the proposed new fire hall at the city owned old rodeo grounds. Fire Chief Hauck, the Commission, and various audience member took part in various discussions related to the new fire hall and the old rodeo grounds land. Commissioner Greg Nordsven asked for a meeting with City Engineer Brett Morlok and Fire Chief Hauck/new fire hall representatives for continued discussion. Commissioner Nordsven made the motion to table discussion about the proposed new fire hall at the old rodeo grounds until the February 21s, 2023 regular meeting, seconded by Commissioner Hurt. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Commissioner Hurt made the motion to offer $80,000 for the Dunn County salt shed building and adjoining land, seconded by Commissioner Wallace. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C City Engineer Brett Morlok updated the Commission regarding the bid opening for the 2023 High Street Improvements Project scheduled for February 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Interim Aquatics & Wellness Center Manager Katie Williams was introduced to the Commission. Commissioner Summerfield made the motion to set a special meeting regarding various Aquatics & Wellness Center items for February 9th, 2023 at 5 PM, seconded by Commissioner Hurt. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Interim Police Chief Dion Steinley introduced new Police Officers Zachary Schutt and Joe Rogers to the Commission, with Police Officer Rogers taking his Oath of Office. Public Works Superintendent Cameron Deperalta provided to the Commission different figures for a newly proposed landfill. Commissioner Hurt made the motion to approve offering $12,500 per acre for the estimated area selected in figure #1 provided by Superintendent Deperalta, seconded by Commissioner Wallace. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Commissioner Hurt made the motion to approve offering $150,000 for parcel 1 in the Killdeer 110 Subdivision, seconded by Commissioner Wallace. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C The Commission discussed opening CD’s with both Bravera Bank and First International Bank in Killdeer. Commissioner Hurt made the motion to approve setting the hearing date for the petition of annexation for the golf course property for February 21, 2023 at 5:00 PM in conjuncture with the regular commission meeting, seconded by Commissioner Summerfield. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Having no further business, Commissioner President Spethman called to adjourn. The meeting was adjourned at 6:07 PM.
