SINGLE-SPAN STEEL STRINGER BRIDGE AVAILABLE FOR
ADOPTION
STARK COUNTY, ND
Stark County, in cooperation with the North Dakota Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration, is planning the replacement of Bridge No. 45-105-18.2.
Bridge 45-105-18.2 is a single-span steel stringer bridge that was constructed in 1929. It is approximately 29 feet long and 20 feet wide and spans Bull Creek. The bridge is located along 127th Ave SW approximately three miles east and eight miles south of Belfield, North Dakota.
The State Historic Preservation Office has recommended the bridge as eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. This means that prior to construction of a structure at this site, the County must make the bridge available to any responsible state, local or private agency willing to take over, relocate and preserve this bridge at a new location.
Any organization willing to "adopt" the old bridge would have to agree to maintain the bridge and assume all future legal and financial responsibility. This existing structure is in use now and would need to be relocated after construction of a new structure, which is scheduled to occur during the 2021 construction season.
Any interested groups should respond by April 16, 2021 to Brandy Presnell, Project Manager; Northern Plains Engineering; (701)-483- 1858; blpresnell@nplainseng.com; 441 23rd St West; Dickinson, ND 58601-6434.
