South Heart School District #9 South Heart School Board Regular Meeting, June 8, 2022 The regular meeting of the South Heart School Board was called to order by Pres. Kuylen in Classroom 402 at 7:00 PM. All members present as well as Supt. Dean, Prin. Jung, and Business Mgr. Kristine Mehrer. Guests: Kristen Kuntz, Jana Schweigert(7:09 pm). Jacobson moved, second by Kudrna to approve agenda. All in favor; motion carried. Prin. Jung noted there is a BigSticks fundraiser for Mr. Wigert June 9 at their 6:20 PM game. Jung recognized graduated Class of 2022, and Mr. Wigert and Mrs. Smith for winning #InnovativeND award for Frontline Education. Kudrna recognized 4 graduates are going into welding careers. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to approve minutes from May 11 and 19, 2022. All in favor; motion carried. Kudrna moved, second by Jacobson to approve June 2022 bills and payroll and May 2022 financial reports. All in favor; motion carried. Supt. Dean reviewed personnel report: Job openings 22-23 school year: 4th grade teacher, elementary special education, 1 paraprofessional. Supt. Dean reviewed K-12 enrollment report = 371. Supt. Dean reviewed Activities Director report: spring sports have wrapped up. Supt. Dean reviewed elementary principal report: PowerSchool end of year training on June 30, completing supplies and requisitions for 22-23, summer school letters offering eight two-hour sections of summer school have been sent to parents. Prin. Jung reported: all state reports are submitted, reviewed ChoiceReady framework and proposed adding another graduation requirement of 25 community service hours. Supt. Dean reported: new basketball hoops have been installed in the main gym. He presented the option of paying off the ESG Loan which is currently held at Choice Bank. Oil and gas revenue has exceeded the amount budgeted. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to pay off the energy savings loan ($119,208.20) if there is enough money available at fiscal year-end. All in favor; motion carried. Jacobson moved, second by Kudrna to approve first reading of amended school board policies: HCC and IDC. All in favor; motion carried. School board reviewed school board exhibits DJK-E1 and CABB-E2. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to approve 22-23 contracts and work agreements: Jerica Romanyshyn ($15.95/hr), Jace Kocer ($45,500.00), Jerome Hoffman ($63,683.06), Calvin Dean ($115,200.00), Kristen Kuntz *adjusted due to move on salary schedule ($57,100.00). All in favor; motion carried. Jacobson moved, second by Eberts to approve hiring David Schneider as Elementary Principal ($84,000.00). All in favor; motion carried. Kudrna moved, second by Jacobson to approve 2022-23 Consolidated Application for Title Funds. All in favor; motion carried. Eberts moved, second by Jacobson to approve 2021-22 pupil membership report and transportation report. All in favor; motion carried. Public input was allowed on the 3- and 5- year long range demographic plan. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to approve the plan. All in favor; motion carried. Jacobson moved, second by Eberts to approve 2nd reading of amended school board policies BDD, DDA, DDBA, and DDAE. All in favor; motion carried. Transportation committee will meet June 13 @ 7 AM. Co-Curricular committee will meet June 13 at 10 AM. Supt Dean reviewed upcoming events. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to adjourn at 7:53 PM.
