The regular meeting of the South Heart School Board was called to order in Room 401 by President Kudrna at 7:00 PM. All members present. Others present: Supt. Dean, Principal Geis, Principal Jung, Activities Director, Ronnie Stewart, Business Manager, Kristine Mehrer. Guests: Jerica Smith, Keisha Sparks, Kristen Kuntz, Jana Schweigert.
Jacobson moved, second by Ewoniuk to approve agenda with additions. All in favor; motion carried.
Prin Geis recognized school spelling bee winners.
Meduna moved, second by Kubas to approve minutes of March 10 and 22, 2021. All in favor; motion carried.
Ewoniuk moved, second by Jacobson to approve April 2021 bills and payroll and March 2021 financial reports. All in favor; motion carried.
4th Street NW street project proposal by the City of South Heart tabled to a future meeting.
Kubas moved, second by Jacobson to dissolve 21-22 open enrollments for child of Michelle Wolfe, child of Whitney Vollum, and child of Jenna Reddish back to Dickinson School District. All in favor; motion carried.
Ewoniuk moved, second by Jacobson to approve 20-21 open enrollment for a child of Gregory Piller and a child of Brittany Gream, both already enrolled but moved to Dickinson School District. All in favor, motion carried.
Jacobson moved, second by Ewoniuk to approve tuition waiver agreement (21-22 school year) and open enrollment (22-23 school year) for a child of Krista Brandt in from Dickinson School District and to disapprove tuition waiver agreements (21-22 school year) and open enrollment applications (22-23 school year) for two children of Melissa Day, and a child of Jana Johnson from Dickinson School District, as per the open enrollment policy. Kubas-Nay, all other members-Aye; motion carried.
Supt Dean reviewed personnel report: Heart River Coaches Kendra Schillo, Head Softball ($3,660.00), Lynette Silbernagel, Asst Softball ($2,610.00), Mechel Watts, Asst Softball ($2,110.00), Kurt Silbernagel, Head Baseball ($4,275.00), Dustin Honeyman, Asst Baseball ($2,400.00), Quentin Obrigewitsch, Asst Baseball ($2,100.00), Rick Gordon, Head Track ($4,765.00). Christine Moe, Asst Track ($2,590.00), Colton Hill, Asst Track ($2,290.00), Deana Lefor, Asst Track ($2,590.00), Lindsey Delvo, ½ time Asst Track ($1,100.00), Zach Girard, ½ time Asst Track ($1,100.00), Kirby Robb, Head Girls Golf ($3,420.00), Tom Meyerhoffer, Asst Girls Golf ($1,620.00), Ronnie Stewart, Head Boys Golf ($2,670.00), Riley Mattson, Asst Boys Golf ($1,820.00). Supt. Dean reviewed enrollment report: current K-12 enrollment is 359, and PK enrollment is 19.
Mr. Stewart reported: Music students' regional and state results, Speech participants' regional results, FFA's annual blood drive had a great turnout, spring sports are underway - participation report was reviewed.
Mrs. Geis reported: State Assessment for English-Language Arts is complete, Math will take place next week, spring field trips are being scheduled, and summer school planning is underway.
Mr. Jung reviewed May 30 Graduation protocol for school board members, and requested a couple members attend the May 19 Academic Award Program at 8:30 AM.
Supt. Dean reported: the district's Moody's rating has been upgraded from A2 to A3, and gave an update on legislation.
Meduna reported on RACTC.
Jacobson moved, second by Ewoniuk to approve contract for Bridget Jacobs as 7-12 science teacher for 21-22. All in favor; motion carried.
Ewoniuk moved, second by Jacobson to amend South Heart Health and Safety Smart ReStart Plan. All in favor; motion carried.
Meduna moved, second by Ewoniuk to dissolve the boys and girls cross-country co-op with Dickinson and form our own Heart River cross-country co-op. All in favor; motion carried.
Supt. Dean reviewed upcoming events.
Jacobson moved, second by Kubas to adjourn at 8:15 PM. All in favor; motion carried.
