The regular meeting of the South Heart School Board was called to order by Pres. Ewoniuk in Classroom 401 at 7:00 PM. Eberts and Jacobson absent, all other members present as well as Supt. Dean, Prin. Jung, Prin. Geis, and Business Mgr, Kristine Mehrer. Guests: Kristen Kuntz, Jana Schweigert, Jerica Smith, Keisha Sparks. Kudrna moved, second by Meduna to approve agenda with additions. All in favor; motion carried. Prin. Jung recognized Ms. Reinhiller, South Heart Staff, Lions Club for hosting a successful speech meet. Supt. Dean recognized Ms. Schweigert, Ms. Sparks, and Ms. Reinhiller and all their students for their Fine Arts Showcase. Meduna moved, second by Kudrna to approve minutes from March 9, 2022. All in favor; motion carried. Kudrna moved, second by Meduna to approve April 2022 bills and payroll and March 2022 financial reports. All in favor; motion carried. Supt. Dean reviewed personnel report: HR Coop Hires: Richard Gordon, Head Track ($4,650.00), Colton Hill, Asst Track ($2,200.00), Lindsey Delvo, Asst Track ($2,000.00), Deana Lefor, Asst Track ($2,500.00), Kendra Schillo, Head Softball ($3,660.00), Emily Henson, Asst Softball ($2,110.00), Lynette Silbernagel, Asst Softball ($2,710.00), Kurt Silbernagel, Head Baseball ($4,400.00), Quentin Obrigewitch, Asst Baseball ($2,200.00), Dustin Honeyman, Asst Baseball ($2,500.00), Ronnie Stewart, Head Boys Golf ($2,795.00), Riley Mattson, Asst Boys Golf ($2,795.00). Resignation: Lindsay Grantier as preschool paraprofessional, Kathy Wendel as part-time custodian (May 20, 2022). Job openings 22-23 school year: 7-12 Business Education teacher (pending), part-time custodian, paraprofessional. Supt. Dean reviewed K-12 enrollment report = 371. Mr. Dean reviewed AD Report: 9 FBLA students placed at State Convention, 3 qualified for National Convention, CloseUp trip went very well, Senior High Acalympics team placed the the middle, Junior High Acalympics team tied for 4th place, first speech meet held in South Heart was a success, Region 10 vocal festival held April 9. Prin. Geis reported: state assessment English Language Arts is complete, math is nearly complete; field trips are being planned for May, preliminary planning for elementary summer school is taking place. Prin. Jung reported: review of ACT test results, state assessments for grades 7, 8, and 10 is complete, reviewed academic award and graduation day plans. Eberts joined meeting at 7:13 PM Supt. Dean reported: ACT scores, NDSA overview, NDSA scores. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to approve tuition waiver for a child of Alyson Lippert outgoing to Dickinson. All in favor; motion carried. Meduna moved, second by Eberts to ratify the 2022-23 Professional Negotiated Agreement, base salary 45,500.00, added two lanes BS+60/MS+10 and BS+70/MS+20 to salary schedule, experience increment granted, $11,100.00 fringe benefit. All in favor; motion carried. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to approve Ancillary Employee Handbook and Benefits Package. All in favor; motion carried. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to approve 1st reading of amended school board policies: GCC, HBAA, HCAA, HCC. All in favor; motion carried. School board reviewed Exhibits: FGA-E7 and FGA-E8. Meduna reported on RACTC / SWCTE. Jacobson joined the meeting at 8:06 PM. Discussion took place regarding ancillary wage increases. Kudrna moved, second by Jacobson to rescind school board policies DKDA and DKDA-E. All in favor; motion carried. Meduna moved, second by Jacobson to approve 1st reading of amended school board policies ABAC (formerly FDJ), and ABAD (formerly FDK). All in favor; motion carried. Kudrna moved, second by Eberts to approve South Heart Public School K-12 Virtual Academy Student-Parent Handbook. All in favor; motion carried. Jacobson moved, second by Eberts to hire Lori Wagner as 7-12 Business Teacher for 2022-23. All in favor, motion carried. Jacobson moved, second by Kudrna to accept resignations from Ronnie Stewart as Physical Education teacher/Activities Director, Head Girls Basketball Coach, Head Boys Golf Coach and Kaydee Stewart as Title I teacher effective at the end of the 21-22 school year. All in favor; motion carried. Eberts moved, second by Kudrna to forgive the one snow day. All in favor; motion carried. Supt. Dean reviewed upcoming events.
