To those who are looking for some card buddies, socializing, and have a taste for coffee and cake; may want to stop by the Sunset Senior Center, Saturday, Feb. 15, for an open house.
Sunset Senior Center is having a post-Valentine’s Day open house next Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. This is an opportunity for community members to visit the center and see if they are interested in becoming a member. This event will also allow the opportunity to let the center know what they could change or improve on to make it a more hospitable and sociable to Dickinson’s seniors.
“Will have coffee and cake at the open house and we just want people to come down and see the center and would like for them to sign up and know of any activities they are interested in doing that we may not be doing,” Leroy Jensen, member of the center, said. “We want to get more people involved in the Senior Centers
According to Jensen, membership for the center includes use of the facility, the occasional free dinners and entry to their monthly meetings to give input.
“This is a great chance for seniors to get out and to mingle with other people and take advantage of different activities,” Jensen said. “ We play quite a bit of cards and are of course open to ideas that people have and what they would like the senior center to be.”
They encourage seniors of the area to join them Saturday to check out the Center, located at the corner of 1st Street and 1st Avenue East, across the street from the Eagles Club.
