The Dickinson Area Concert Association will kick off its 2016-17 series with two Irish singers who take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Church.
David Shannon and Simon Morgan entertain under the name, Fir, which is an Irish word meaning men, or in this case men singers.
The international singers have traveled the world performing with orchestras from America, Asia, Europe and Australia, as well as their home country of Ireland. Their music is a classical crossover with a modern Irish feel, according to a news release.
Shannon grew up in Ireland and has been singing professionally for more than 20 years. He has become a musical theatre leading man, playing major roles in "Les Miserables," "Miss Saigon," "Sweeney Todd" and "The Phantom of the Opera."
Morgan is one of Ireland's top singers and a frequent guest with Ireland's main orchestras. His album "I'll Be Seeing You" hit number one in the Irish iTunes vocal album charts. He has performed many operatic roles in "La Boheme," "Tosca," "Candide," "Cosi Fan Tutte" and in "Casta Diva: The Maria Callas Story."
