Lt. Jody Skogen says troopers handed out 1,490 citations, compared to 1,424 last year. Speeding tickets increased by 130.

Skogen says there were 37 arrests for driving under the influence, the same as in 2009, and only one fatality on North Dakota roads, down from five the previous year. The roadway fatality reporting period begins at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Monday.
