MINOT – Police here arrested 13 would-be buyers of commercial sex in connection with a national sting operation in advance of the Super Bowl.
Minot police made 13 prostitution arrests resulting from a “National Day of Johns” enforcement operation that led to the arrests of 570 johns nationwide, according to the Cook County (Ill.) Sheriff’s Office, which launched the effort in 2011.
The national operation, which ran from Jan. 15 to Sunday in 17 states, also resulted in arrests of 23 pimps or traffickers and the rescues of 58 victims of human trafficking.
Police departments in Minneapolis and St. Paul also participated in the operation and arrested three johns.
Minot police also participated in the operation in 2014 and arrested five johns that year.
