Farmers showcase wares at market

Since 1981, the Roughrider Home Growers Market has provided an outlet to those wanting home-grown veggies and other goods.

The market kicks off its 2009 season today at 10 a.m. in the former True Value parking lot, across from Runnings Supply, Inc. on 21st Street West.

The market is every Tuesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until things slow down. This year's market features about 10 venders, said Janie Tormaschy, president of the Roughrider Home Growers Farmer's Market.

"Right now we think that that's a pretty decent amount," Tormaschy said. "We are having two venders that are making whole wheat bread."

And any veggie goes.

"Whatever you want to raise you can raise," Tormaschy said. "I'd like to have more farming craft."
