Dakota Resource Council schedules public meeting on radioactive waste landfills

ALEXANDER – The Dakota Resource Council is hosting a public information meeting next week in Alexander on radioactive waste landfills.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Alexander City Hall, 112 Manning Ave.

McKenzie County Commissioners and Planning and Zoning board members have been invited.

IHD Solids Management LLC has submitted applications to the North Dakota Department of Health to begin accepting waste at its facility near Alexander with radioactivity levels up to 50 picocuries per gram.

The local township opposes the proposal and is seeking help from the McKenzie County Commission.
