MANDAN, N.D. (AP) -- Authorities are looking for five boys who escaped from the Youth Correctional Center at Mandan after assaulting a correctional officer.
Police believe the 15-, 16- and 17-year-old boys are in the Minot area. They are considered violent and possibly armed.
Highway Patrol Sgt. Steve Fischer said that a vehicle stolen from the Mandan facility was founded abandoned in Minot on Monday night. He says it belonged to the YCC officer who was attacked on Sunday. Fischer says the officer was not seriously hurt.
