Pedestrian hit and killed on ND highway identified
MAX, N.D. - A man who died after being struck by a vehicle in central North Dakota early Saturday, July 28, has been identified.
Jordan Thomas Hagerott, 30, Mandan, was killed in the accident, which occurred about 1:19 a.m. on U.S. Highway 83, 15 miles south of Minot, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.
According to the patrol report:
Marshall Hofstad, 22, of Cologne, Minn., and his passenger Wyatt Wilson, 21, of Underwood, N.D., were traveling south from Minot to Underwood in the right lane of U.S. Highway 83.
Meanwhile, Hagerott was walking to Mandan and was in the roadway at the crest of a hill.
The 2003 Ford F-150 that Hofstad was driving struck Hagerott, and Hagerott was thrown onto an approach on the west side of the road, the report said. Hagerott was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hofstad pulled over and stopped on the shoulder of the roadway facing south.
No charges have been filed, though the incident remains under investigation.
