Pedestrian struck by vehicle in northeast ND dies from injuries
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — A 29-year-old Fort Totten man has died from his injuries after he was struck by a vehicle while walking along a state highway near Devils Lake when the driver was pulling over to the side of the road while an ambulance approached.
Killed was Clarence Brown, who died later at the hospital after suffering severe injuries, said the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The driver of the vehicle, a 1971 Mercury Monterey sedan, was Dennis Possen, 61, of Devils Lake.
Possen faces possible charges, although the Patrol said that the case was still under investigation and findings would be turned over to the state’s attorney.
The crash occurred about 9:20 p.m. on the highway about three miles south of Devils Lake on Tuesday night. The Patrol in its report said Possen could not see Brown due to the dark conditions of the evening and Brown’s dark clothing and with the lights of the approaching ambulance in his face.
