GARRETSON, S.D. — A 28-year-old Minnesota woman was injured after she fell 80 feet from a cliff at Palisades State Park in southeastern South Dakota on Monday afternoon, Sept. 2.

Witnesses observed the woman hit the side of the cliff several times before entering the water, the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Rescue crews were called around 5:30 p.m. to perform a water rescue. Crews brought the woman out of the water and transported her to an area hospital for what appeared to be minor injuries, the sheriff's office said.

Jumping off rocks into the water is prohibited at state parks, the sheriff's office said.

Palisades State Park is about 25 miles northeast of Sioux Falls.
