ABERDEEN, S.D. – A 17-year-old boy from Warner has been identified as the male killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning, Sept. 15, west of Aberdeen in northeastern South Dakota.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety said the other driver, 58-year-old Bruce Perrion of Ipswich, had serious but not life-threatening injuries.
A 2012 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Levi Wiedebush, had been northbound on 382nd Avenue when it entered U.S. Highway 12, pulling in front of an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck. The collision left both the westbound and eastbound lanes of traffic blocked for a time.
Both drivers were taken to an Aberdeen hospital. Wiedebush had to be extricated from the vehicle and later died as a result of his injuries.
Heavy fog was reported in the area at the time of the crash.
