FARGO — A woman seriously injured while riding as a passenger on a motorcycle in Fargo last month died from her injuries Monday, Oct. 4, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.

Just after 8 p.m. Sept. 15, a 2021 Harley-Davidson was traveling south on University Drive. An eastbound 1998 Ford Taurus was turning left to head north on the 4700 block of University Drive South. The motorcycle then struck the car on the front driver side, the patrol said.

The driver of the Ford, a 16-year-old Fargo resident, and her passenger, a 12-year-old Fargo girl, were uninjured, the patrol said.

The driver of the motorcycle, 22-year-old Jasen Matheu Hernandez of Fargo, and his passenger, Krassimira Utecht, 32, also of Fargo, were taken to Sanford Medical Center with serious injuries, the patrol said.

Both were in stable condition the evening following the crash, but Utecht later died.

Hernandez and Utecht were not wearing helmets, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation, with authorities considering charges against Hernandez.
