CROSBY - Aid is being delivered to residents of Divide County, where some rural communities are still without potable water following a water main break Saturday.
Volunteers with the American Red Cross loaded two pallets containing gallon jugs of water and four pallets of bottled water at its Fargo office, which the agency said were delivered Monday morning.
Red Cross is working with Divide County Emergency Management to monitor needs as crews work to repair the Western Area Water Supply Authority pipeline. Residents in the towns of Crosby, Fortuna, Noonan and Columbus were put under a boil notice Sunday until the state
Department of Health can ensure the water is safe for human consumption.
WAWSA executive director Jaret Wirtz told the Department of Health a bored pipe underneath a wetland failed about three miles south of Crosby. The pipe will have to be re-bored and replaced with a permanent line, the company says.
