After a hearing in Dickinson on July 5, an alleged sex offender is being extradited to Wisconsin.
Steven Goehl, 19, hometown unknown, has been held in Dickinson's Southwest Multi-County Correction Center since his arrest on Tuesday, June 8.
In the criminal complaint issued by Jefferson County, Wis., and signed on Nov. 22, 2006, it stated on June 9, 2006, in Koshkonong, Wis., Goehl allegedly had sexual intercourse with a child. The child was 15 years old at the time of the incident and was an acquaintance of Goehl's.
The sexual assault of a child charge is a Class C felony that carries a fine of not more than $100,000, or a prison sentence of up to 40 years, or both.
Jefferson County Capt. Pat Brown said Goehl failed to respond to the criminal complaint and summons. The court date would have been set for sometime this past December 2006.

After failing to appear, a warrant for Goehl's arrest was issued on Jan. 22, 2007. It is unknown how long Goehl has been in the Dickinson area.
He was found by the Dickinson Police Department on June 5 as it served an unrelated warrant during a traffic stop in which Goehl was a passenger in a vehicle. A background check on Goehl found the outstanding warrant from Wisconsin.
In a hearing on June 6, 2007, Goehl refused to sign for extradition. A governor's warrant was granted from Wisconsin Gov. James Doyle Jr.
In a hearing on July 3, the judge decreed Wisconsin officials must extradite Goehl within 10 days from the SWMCC.
Goehl is described as being 6 feet tall and 280 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.
