Alleged sex trafficker facing federal charge

BISMARCK - A Mandan man faces a federal attempted sex trafficking of a child charge from a September sting in Bismarck.
Travis Koropatnicki was originally charged in Burleigh County court, but Burleigh County Assistant State’s Attorney Pamela Nesvig said she dismissed the original charge last month because she knew the U.S. Attorney’s office was looking into bringing its own charge.
He responded to an ad placed by law enforcement last fall, thinking he was meeting up with an underage girl for commercial sex. Instead, he was arrested.
Koropatnicki had his initial appearance Thursday. His arraignment hasn’t been scheduled.
