A 35-year-old Stark County man has been arrested for allegedly stealing several thousand dollars worth of copper wire early Sunday morning, according to the Stark County Sheriff's Department.

Thomas Angerer has been charged with theft of property and more charges may be coming, said Sheriff Clarence Tuhy.

The wiring was stolen from an oil company's storage facility for months, Tuhy said.

"It's a site that's holding oil rigs and pipes and stuff until they need them," Tuhy said.

Angerer was caught red-handed, Tuhy said.

"The officers caught him in the act early this morning (Friday) with evidence in the vehicle and tools that were used," he said.

There copper wiring came from towers and monitoring systems, he added.

"He was stripping that out with a cutting tool," Tuhy said.

The exact value of property stolen was not released.

"We're still in the process of kind of adding everything up, along with the damage and everything," Tuhy said. "There's some ends that need to be tied up right now, as far as the investigation."
