Morton County Soil Conservation District and ND Grazing Lands Coalition will present a one-day workshop Production Profit Prevail "Alternatives to Winter Feeding", Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Best Western Seven Seas Hotel and Waterpark in Mandan.
Kit Pharo of Pharo Cattle Company, Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, will be the featured speaker. Kit has over twenty-five years of creating a very efficient and profitable cow/calf operation. The workshop will focus on traditional and non-traditional management strategies that can be incorporated and implemented to support winter grazing.
Also featured will be Henry Meyer, Flasher, ND, who has been using winter grazing as a feeding alternative for over a decade, Dr. Kevin Sedivec-NDSU who will present 6 years of winter grazing research, and a panel of ranchers that are practicing various alternatives to winter feeding.
