BISMARCK (AP) -- A fiery head-on collision on Highway 1804 south of Bismarck killed three people and forced the shutdown of the highway for about three hours.
The Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by 21-year Evan Thundershield failed to negotiate a curve in the road and drove into the oncoming lane, hitting a car head on. The SUV overturned and burned.
The patrol says Thundershield and the other driver, 60-year-old Steven Nelson, died at the scene of Thursday afternoon's crash. Thundershield's passenger, 34-year-old Theda Charley, died later at a hospital. All three were from Bismarck.
