Two groups in Dickinson are rolling in the right direction to establish a place for themselves.
Dickinson Parks and Recreation Director James Kramer reported to the board during its roundtable meeting Friday morning that the Skate Park Committee and the RC (remote control) Racing Club are getting closer to finding respective homes.
"The skate park had a list of about 14 sites and we're still going through that," Kramer said. "The RC park, they have an intent to be at that area by Gress Complex, but because that's one of the areas that the skate park is looking at, we didn't want to jump into it."
The RC Racing Club looked at three or four different sites, he said. However, the area near the Gress Complex best suits the groups needs.
"There's room for both, but we don't want to go too far ahead and make sure we're thinking of both those groups," Kramer said.

In an unrelated matter, two parks and recreation projects are coming to a close. The West River Community Center Tennis Addition and the Heart River Golf Course irrigation project are set to be completely paid out at the board's next meeting on July 9.
Another issue to be examined at the next meeting is a Joint Powers Agreement regarding the proposed building of the Badlands Activity Center on DSU's campus.
"We'll be asking them (DSU, sponsor of the agreement) to come to our next meeting," Kramer said. "Before then, we'll have our attorney looking at it."
