Early this morning, the National Weather Service announced a strong winter storm is likely to cause blizzard conditions today and tomorrow in Stark and surrounding counties.
Rain and snow showers are likely before noon today and then blowing snow after noon, according to the service. The high will be near 39. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent with total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent tonight and new snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.
The heaviest snow is expected from Bowman to Mott and northeastward to Garrison and McClusky, according the the NWS. Totals may hit 12-18 inches.
Six to 12 inches are forecast from Beach and Watford City into Minot and Bottineau with less in northwestern North Dakota.
The blizzard warning runs until 6 Tuesday night.
