Army's West, Champs to televise Bison game

North Dakota State football fans in Dickinson who do not subscribe to DIRECTV, but still want to watch the Bison take on the University of Minnesota on Saturday morning are in luck.

North Dakota State football fans in Dickinson who do not subscribe to DIRECTV, but still want to watch the Bison take on the University of Minnesota on Saturday morning are in luck.

If they're more than 21 years old that is.

Army's West and Champs Sports Bar are Dickinson's only establishments offering the game on the Big Ten Network, which is only available on DIRECTV.

Last year, the teams played on Fox Sports North.

"We've had a lot of people call already today," said Army's West owner Eric Boettcher.

Boettcher believes Dickinson residents who want to watch the Bison and still make it to Dickinson State's game will be in luck.

NDSU and Minnesota's game begins at 10 a.m. and should wrap up about 1 p.m. The Blue Hawks' game against Mayville State begins at 1:30 p.m. at Whitney Stadium.

"It's a perfect scenario," Boettcher said with a laugh. "(The Bison-Gophers game) will be over by 1 o'clock probably. It'll be ideal."

Army's West, which usually opens at noon on Saturday's, will unlock its doors at 9:30 a.m. because of the Bison game.

Boettcher said he purchased the channel from DIRECTV simply for Saturday's football game.

"I think it'll be a good crowd," Boettcher said. "I think just the curiosity of a Division I-AA team beating a Division I team, especially beings how the Bison are undefeated."
