BISMARCK (AP) -- North Dakota prison officials say they've moved 146 inmates from a minimum-security prison along the Missouri River to escape flooding.

Deputy warden Patrick Branson said the prisoners were taken from the Missouri River Correctional Center to the main state penitentiary gymnasium. He said they will stay at the penitentiary until officials decide they can safely return.

Low-lying areas in Bismarck and Mandan have been evacuated due to flooding from ice jams along the river.
