FINGAL -- The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a small, homemade explosive device found near Fingal -- about 65 miles west of Fargo..

The sheriff’s office described the device as “suspicious” and called in the Red River Valley Regional Bomb Squad from Fargo once the object was identified as an explosive/dangerous homemade device. The sheriff’s office reported the object was detonated by the bomb squad on Monday..

The incident remains under investigation.

The sheriff’s office is asking for help in identifying a white Toyota or Mazda pickup truck  with an  extended cab. If anyone has any information about the device and/or the pickup truck, call (701) 845-8530 or email investigate@barnescounty.us . Respondents may remain anonymous.
