Bowlers from across the state are coming to Dickinson this weekend for the 2007 North Dakota State Bowling Jamboree. The jamboree runs Friday through Sunday.
"We thought it was about time it was held in Dickinson again," co-coordinator Pat Fox said. "Becky Frenzel, she and I have been getting together this whole shebang."
Frenzel and Fox are local directors for the North Dakota State U.S. Bowling Congress. They submitted a letter of invitation to the state board hoping to bring the jamboree back to Dickinson.
"It's been about five years or so since it's been here," Fox said. "There is no regular rotation as to where it's held. If you want it to be hosted in your area, you've got to let them know."
Friday's events are limited to members of the North Dakota Bowling Council, Fox said.

"But Saturday is our big day and most of that is open to the public," she said. "We have a workshop at the Days Inn that starts at 1:30 p.m. featuring guest speaker Roberta Haffner, from national headquarters."
"Then Saturday after the workshop, there will be a small bowling tournament at the Paragon and that's open to all bowlers," Fox added. "If anyone is interested, they should call John Miller at the Paragon."
Other events Saturday include a silent auction to raise funds for the youth bowler scholarship, as well as a banquet with several awards presentations that evening.
"In the past, we have about 100 to 125 people attend the banquet," Fox said. "And the silent auction raises funds for our youth scholarship."
The auction begins Friday evening at the Days Inn. Items up for auction are donated by bowlers as well as proprietors. The auction closes Saturday before the banquet.
The jamboree wraps up Sunday morning with a meeting for proprietors.
For more information about the convention, a registration desk is open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., or contact Fox at 225-2751 or Frenzel at 227-8422.
