Six different kinds of prescription drugs are now in the hands of a burglar after the Country Drug pharmacy in Richardton was reportedly burglarized Tuesday morning.

The prescription drugs missing from the pharmacy are Diazepam, Oxazepam, Clonazepam, Klonipin, Temazepam and Pseudoephedrine, according to the Stark County Sheriff's Department. However, the amounts of drugs missing were not released, due to the ongoing investigation.

Sheriff's Department Capt. Lawrence Kitzman said the back door of the building is damaged from the incident, but entry was gained by breaking through the glass front door.

"They tried to enter through the back door and didn't get in and then they went around to the front," Kitzman said.

It's unclear what the burglar used to break the glass door.

Kitzman said somebody noticed the damage from the break-in at about 5:35 a.m. on Tuesday and alerted authorities.

The break-in is believed to have occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. because a deputy reportedly checked Richardton businesses at about 2:30 a.m. to see if any had acquired damages from a storm that swept through the area.

The prescriptions were likely stolen to be abused, Kitzman said.

"It's been that way for quite some time that all of the hard drug users are now taking prescriptions," Kitzman said.

He added many who abuse prescription drugs often incorrectly believe abusing prescriptions is safe.

No arrests have been made and the Sheriff's Department is looking for suspects. The matter is under investigation.

A spokesperson from Country Drug said they were too busy to comment on the incident Wednesday.
