MINNEAPOLIS - For the second straight week, Tim Brewster's game-ending decision backfired.

In last week's 49-48 two-overtime loss at Northwestern, Brewster's University of Minnesota football team lost when its two-point conversion failed. It's a decision Brewster said he would do again for the next 100 years.

In Saturday's 27-21 loss to North Dakota State, Brewster's orders to go for a blocked punt turned into a roughing-the-kicker penalty. It kept his offense off the field while the Bison offense ran out the clock.

"That was my decision to go for the block," said Brewster, whose Gophers fell to 1-7 and saw their hopes for a bowl invitation die. "We saw an opportunity to go for it and we did."

NDSU's Mike Dragosavich lined up to punt from near midfield with 1:48 remaining of the game. Strong safety Dominique Barber broke through the line and dove for the block. As he landed, he knocked Dragosavich over prompting the officials to whistle a 15-yard penalty and an automatic first down for the Bison.
