LARIMORE, N.D. (AP) -- No train passengers or crew members were hurt when a car collided with Amtrak's Empire Builder at a crossing in northeastern North Dakota.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari tells KFGO radio that the investigation into the crash about 6:30 a.m. Thursday and a mechanical inspection at the scene near Larimore delayed the train.

Highway Patrol Sgt. Dolph Oldenburg says the driver of the car was taken to a Grand Forks hospital with unknown injuries. Oldenburg says the man's vision might have been obscured by trees near the crossing. The car hit the train four railcars back from the engines, uncoupling the cars from the rest of the train.
