A child was found hiding behind large rolls of paper towels at the Family Dollar in Dickinson at about 12:30 this afternoon after his father couldn't find him and called authorities.
The shopper called authorities after losing sight of his 5-year-old son at about noon.
"We took this call seriously as if it were an actual abduction or a missing child," Dickinson Police Department Capt. Joe Cianni said.
The department sent out an "attempt to locate" and contacted the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Stark County Sheriff's Office for help.
About half an hour later they located the child in the store.
