A pickup fire forced emergency staff to close off a block of Villard Street in downtown Dickinson early Sunday morning.
The Dickinson Fire Department responded to the fire around 5:30 a.m. In a parking lot between First and Second Avenues East, causing police to close Villard. First and Second Avenue were also closed from Villard to Second Street East.
The fire was eventually extinguished, and the streets were reopened at about 6 a.m.
Police respond to potential prostitution case
Police responded to a potential sex offense report Saturday afternoon at the Astoria Hotel on the 300 block of 15th Street West.
An employee at the hotel reported that one male and three female guests may have been engaging in prostitution.
A 39-year-old Montana man was suspected of being the pimp of the three females, although police did have enough evidence to make an arrest.
The women, a 24-year-old from California, a 22-year-old from California and a 22-year-old from Arizona, were all questioned by police.
No arrests were made during the incident.
Man arrested for inhalation of chemical vapors, possession of drug paraphernalia
A 31-year-old Dickinson man was arrested for inhalation of chemical vapors and possession of drug paraphernalia Saturday evening in the Walmart parking lot.
Police responded to the call and upon arrival witnessed the man inhaling vapors from a duster can.
Officers proceeded to search the man and found him in possession of a pipe used to smoke marijuana.
Man arrested after driving vehicle into pond
A 27-year-old Texas native was arrested for driving under the influence and reckless driving after he drove his car into a pond early Sunday morning on the 3000 block of Fourth Avenue East.
Officers tested the driver for alcohol consumption and arrested the man for driving under the influence.
The driver and two male passengers were all checked for injuries, but refused medical treatment.
Man arrested for simple assault
A 31-year-old Dickinson man was arrested for domestic abuse, simple assault Saturday evening on the 3000 block of 114th Avenue Southwest.
According to reports, the man assaulted his wife, which resulted in bruising on her face.
The victim refused medical care after the incident.
Camper stolen from Taylor resident’s yard
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of theft Friday morning on the 100 block of Elm Avenue in Taylor.
According to reports, a 20-foot camper was stolen out of the resident's yard. The owner estimates the camper was worth around $5,000.
There are no suspects at this time.
Woman arrested for simple assault and menacing
A 32-year-old Gladstone woman was arrested for simple assault Friday morning at Wells Fargo West Ridge on the 3000 block of West Ridge Drive.
According to reports, two women got into an altercation over money, which resulted in one of the women pushing the other.
Charges for simple assault have been forwarded to the city attorney and a menacing charge has been forwarded to the state’s attorney.
Multiple vehicle thefts thought to be connected
A string of thefts, which police suspect are related, occurred Sunday afternoon on First Avenue West and Sims Street.
Police received five theft calls within an hour, all reporting theft of items from unlocked vehicles.
Small items were stolen from each vehicle with an estimated cost of around $200.
There are no suspects at this time, the incident is currently under investigation.
$3,000 reported stolen from residence
A woman reported that $3,000 was stolen from her residence Friday afternoon on the 100 block of Ninth Avenue West.
The woman claimed that a jar containing the money taken from her residence.
Police said there was no sign of forced entry at the home.
There are no suspects at this time.
