BISMARCK - An Arizona man was sentenced on Monday, June 13, in U.S. District Court in Bismarck to 20 years in prison on methamphetamine and firearms charges in what is thought to be the largest seizure of meth in the state.
Rocky T. Mayfield, 31, of Goodyear was convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
In early 2015, Mayfield and associates arranged for the delivery of methamphetamine from Arizona to the Williston, N.D., area, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Chris Myers.
In February 2015, law enforcement officials conducted a traffic stop near Berthold, N.D., where they discovered about 1 pound of methamphetamine in a car that Mayfield had rented.
After executing a search warrant at a hotel in Minot, law enforcement officials discovered another 10 pounds of methamphetamine, which was believed to be the largest methamphetamine seizure ever in the state of North Dakota at that time.
