CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. — Two central S.D. residents were arrested Wednesday, Jan. 31, on multiple felony drug charges, including a 28-year-old woman who police say ingested a controlled substance while pregnant.

Jeannie Langdeau was charged with five felonies and Philip Battese Jr., 37, was charged with four felonies when the Chamberlain Police Department executed a search warrant at about 3:45 p.m. at an apartment in Chamberlain. Law enforcement officers found methamphetamine and prescription opioids, Chamberlain Police Chief Joe Hutmacher said.

Langdeau was charged with abuse or cruelty of a minor younger than 7 years old, a Class 3 felony. Langdeau was also charged with ingestion of a controlled substance; inhabiting a room where drugs are kept or used; maintaining a place where drugs are kept or used; possession of a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Battese Jr. received all of the same charges with the exception of abuse or cruelty to a minor, according to Hutmacher.
