Central ND man charged in triple stabbing
BISMARCK — A Mandan man is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault after allegedly attacking three people with a knife on Tuesday, Sept. 4, leaving one woman with 16 puncture wounds and a nearly severed finger.
Prosecutors filed charges on Thursday against Cortez Ramon Lyons, alleging that he attempted to kill a 48-year-old woman and her 20-year-old son, and stabbed a 16-year-old female as she protected an 8-year-old with her body. The woman’s index finger was almost severed and has been reattached, court records say.
Lyons, 34, met the woman a week earlier and was staying in her home.
Lyons is charged with two counts of attempted murder, a Class A felony, as well as two counts of felony aggravated assault and one count of felony terrorizing.
Bismarck police arrested Lyons during a traffic stop late Tuesday afternoon; Lyons swung at officers and resisted arrest. Bismarck police also found a baggie of meth that officers say belonged to Lyons.
Lyons is charged with assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest and possession of meth.
A judge set bail on Thursday at $250,000 cash and ordered Lyons to have no contact with the victims.
