WILLISTON -- A 74-year-old North Dakota man was arrested last week after leading three law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase through two states.

Kenneth Kummer, 74, of Keene, N.D, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 20, after leading the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol and Richland County Sheriff’s Office on a chase west from Highway 68 in North Dakota to Highway 200 in Montana. Officers deployed spike strips in an attempt to stop Kummer, but the strips failed to cause enough damage on the first try and he evaded the strips on the second try.

Kummer stopped the vehicle several times, but refused to exit and sped off each time, officials said, until finally exiting the vehicle on a county road.

Kummer was taken to the Richland County jail on charges of aggravated DUI — second offense, fleeing from police, resisting arrest, fugitive from justice and assault on a peace officer.
