WILLISTON, N.D. — A paperwork mistake led to a prisoner being mistakenly released from the Williams County jail in Williston, according to the sheriff's office.
Daniel Decoteau, 33, was sentenced Nov. 27 to serve two years after pleading guilty to felony burglary. He was released from jail two days later, and not arrested until Friday.
“The incident has been investigated and the correctional center is taking steps to ensure this type of situation does not happen again,” Sgt. Detective Caleb Fry said.
