A Dickinson man, Jeremy Olheiser, 44, has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his cousin, David Galster, 39, on Thursday night.

Olheiser was arrested and charged with Class B felony manslaughter, according to the Dickinson Police Department. He was lodged at the Southwest Multi-County Correction Center, where he remains in custody.

Galster's body was found in an apartment in the 900 block of Meadows Drive, where he had been shot and died sometime during the early morning hours of Thursday, March 12.

According to police, they were acting on a tip when detectives acquired and served a search warrant on the apartment.

The apartment was otherwise unoccupied at the time of the warrant service, which was completed by the Southwest Tactical Team.

At 3:35 p.m., the suspect, Olheiser, was located in the 600 block of 12th Street West and taken into custody without incident.

Olheiser was armed with a concealed handgun at the time of his arrest and later confessed to shooting and killing of his cousin Galster in his apartment during an early morning altercation.

The arrest marks the first alleged homicide in Dickinson since 2018, and preliminary hearings on the matter will be held at the Stark County District Court at a date and time not yet set.
