Dickinson Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched its "Travel Matters" video series.
The online testimonials highlight Dickinson as a North Dakota travel destination, Terri Thiel, CVB executive director, said.
In partnership with North Dakota Tourism Division, the videos will be posted online through September.
The video series is, in part, an effort to illustrate the importance of the visitor industry to the state Legislature, Thiel said.
"During our legislative sessions, we will get up and talk to the legislators on the importance of travel," she said. "A lot of us in our industry have said we need to show more of a visual by having our partners talk about this."
The video series collects testimonials from business owners, local organizations and various community partners on how they benefit from travel.
Relating these stories visually for the state's leaders is much more effective, Thiel said.
"For us to get up and tell our stories through just reading visitor stats or impacts, things like that, it just doesn't have the same effect," she said. "We want to show the importance for the travel industry."
The CVB plans on creating 10 to 11 videos through September and plans to involve Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce, Dickinson Parks & Recreation and Dickinson Dinosaur Museum, among others.
"We'll try to take those people within our community who value visitors and make those content stories," Thiel said.
The online videos will also benefit area employers and Dickinson Job Service, a CVB partner, Thiel said.
"When people are coming in to relocate, they're looking at quality of place," she said. "A lot of the manufacturers are looking for those employees. It really is a good partnership for what is there for your employees when they get here."
The videos can also be used in the CVB's own promotional content.
Everybody who visits Dickinson plays an important role in the city's economy, Thiel said.
"They touch the hotels, the restaurants, the gas stations. More so for the ones who may be here for long term, or for meetings or conventions," she said.
Downtown uniqueness, achieved through boutiques and dining opportunities, is especially invaluable to travellers, Thiel said.
"We have a lot of people who come in here who want to do local foods," she said. "They don't want to go to a franchise. They want to know, what's your favorite place to eat that's local? They'll seek that out."

The final video in the series will be posted on Sept. 28.
