Dickinson pilot makes emergency landing south of Minot

MINOT -- A Dickinson pilot had to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff in Ward County on Saturday night, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

MINOT -- A Dickinson pilot had to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff in Ward County on Saturday night, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Gordon Pavlicek, 66, was flying his 1971 Piper Cherokee 140 when his plane experienced mechanical failure. He was forced to land in a farm field south of Minot.

Pavlicek was not injured. The plane sustained mechanical damage.
