Dickinson has set a new record for rainfall in the month of August.
The National Weather Service reported Monday that the Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport has received 6.25 inches of rain this month, breaking the city’s previous record total that stood for 60 years.
In August 1954, Dickinson recorded 5.55 inches of rain.
While the rainfall total is the official number, the National Weather Service said last week that other areas of southwest North Dakota have reported as much as 7 inches in one storm, though those numbers are unofficial.
