COLEHARBOR -- The driver of a Dodge Neon fled the scene of an accident after rear-ending another car on U.S. Highway 83 at Coleharbor on Friday afternoon, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported Monday.
Susan Anderson was driving north in her 2012 Honda Civic when she slowed down while entering a 55 mph reduced-speed zone when a Dodge, driven by an unknown driver, hit her.
The Dodge suffered extensive front-end damage and became disabled. The driver briefly spoke to Anderson, who was not injured, and then fled on foot.
Authorities conducted an extensive search to find the fleeing driver. A follow-up investigation led to a potential identification of an Idaho resident who may have been driving the Dodge.
The crash remains under investigation.
