KILLDEER, N.D. — A 37-year-old man from Jeanerette, La., died Thursday afternoon after a head-on collision on Highway 22, five miles north of Killdeer.
According to a North Dakota Highway Patrol report, at noon on Dec. 27, Jared Maturin was in a Ford F-150 traveling north on Highway 22. The truck was in the left northbound lane, in a passing zone.
A Dodge 5500 pickup truck was traveling south on Highway 22, following a North Dakota Department of Transportation snow plow, which was actively plowing. The plowed snow created whiteout conditions, reducing driving visibility. Both vehicles entered the whiteout and collided head-on near the centerline of the road.
The four occupants in the Dodge driven by Talon Danforth, 32, of Dickinson, were not injured in the crash. Maturin was pronounced dead at the scene.
