LAMOURE, N.D. - One man is dead after the car he was in hit a tree at high speed in a suspected drunk-driving crash here early Friday.

The driver of a Chevrolet K1500 pickup was headed north on 1st Street NE about 8 blocks north of Highway 13 shortly before 3:15 a.m. Friday when he drove off the road and struck a tree, Sgt. Ben Kennelly said in a North Dakota Highway Patrol accident report.

Both the driver and his passenger were taken by LaMoure Ambulance to Oakes Hospital, where the passenger was pronounced dead.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
