The Dickinson State volleyball team split two matches at the Northern Extreme Fall Classic at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center in Grand Forks on Saturday.

The Blue Hawks ripped Upper Iowa 30-18, 30-22, 30-25 in their early match and fell to the University of North Dakota 28-30, 30-28, 30-27, 30-15, 15-7.

"To be honest, out of the two matches, we're more satisfied with our level of play against UND than Upper Iowa," DSU coach Dave Moody said.

Nancy Nyongesa had 25 kills after the two matches, Elizabeth Castillo had 24 on the day, Elizabeth Rodriguez had 23 and Brittany Jones had 22.

"The first few weeks of the season, you're just trying to find your rhythm, trying to find your stride," Moody said. "You're not totally satisfied even with a win if you're not playing your best ball."
