The Dickinson State volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season Friday at the Northern Extreme Fall Classic volleyball tournament at the Betty Engelstad Sports Center in Grand Forks. However, it picked up the pieces with an afternoon victory.
Minnesota State Moorhead came from behind to nip DSU in a tight five-game match 21-30, 27-30, 30-14, 30-26, 17-15.
Nancy Nyongesa had 18 kills, 10 digs and four blocks to lead the Blue Hawks. Brittany Jones added 17 kills and seven blocks. Elizabeth Rodriguez and Elizabeth Castillo had 13 and 12 kills, respectiveley.
Nyongesa led the Blue Hawks with 22 kills and Castillo and Rodriguez each had 14 kills to help DSU defeat St. Cloud State 23-30, 27-30, 30-25, 30-23, 15-11 in the afternoon match.
MSUM received votes in the American Volleyball Caoches Association's NCAA Division II preseason poll while the Blue Hawks are ranked eighth in the AVCA's NAIA preseason poll.

Williston High School graduate Kelci Guenther and Meagan Brandon led MSUM with 17 kills each in the early game.
