DSU sprinter Miller sets BSA record in 200

FARGO -- Ramon Miller set an arena record as he flew to a win in the 200-meter dash at the North Dakota State Invitational on Friday.

The Dickinson State senior finished with a time of 21.56 seconds, setting a Bison Sports Arena record.

"He was very explosive the whole race," DSU track and field coach Pete Stanton said. "He continued to keep taking his talent to another level."

DSU's Jamal Forbes won the 60 dash with a time of 6.90 seconds, edging NDSU's Kevin Jackson. DSU's Michael Sands was third at 6.96.

DSU's 1,600-meter relay team had a winning, and season-best, time of 3:16.80, but was listed as disqualified on the final result sheet.

Kurt McCormack won the triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 8 inches.

Jermaine Christie took second in the long jump 22-8½.

Christa Hofland took third in the weight throw (51-7¾) while Jessica Eaddy was fourth (48-8). Hofland was second in the shot put at 42-3¼.

Kelsey Aide was third in the pole vault with a leap of 12-1½.

Clayton Unruh took third in the shot put on the men's side at 50-2½.

Former Dickinson High standout Derik Brugger won the pole vault with a leap of 16-10¾.

Former Blue Hawk Cody Gronvold, now at NDSU, won the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.34.

DSU's Eugene Bramble was third with a 8.63 while Allan Ayala, who was right behind Gronvold in the preliminaries, did not clock a time in the finals.
