Edna Rieger was born on Sept. 30, 1932 in Trail City, S.D. to Edward and Emilia Rieger. She grew up and attended school in South Dakota. She lived with her mother until the age of 28. After the death of her mother, she lived in Grafton until 1981. Edna then moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mott. In 1985, Edna moved to Dickinson, where she has made her home ever since. She enjoyed beadwork and often making jewelry for her friends. She loved the color red and would always compliment anyone who wore red. Edna was very fond of babies and would ask her friends how the children were doing and if they had red shoes. She liked to go out for dinner and shopping. Chocolate was also a favorite of Edna's, she loved M&Ms, especially the red ones. During the summer months, you would see her wearing her favorite floppy hat. Edna loved her step brother and enjoyed receiving letters from him and sending letters to him. She cherished the gifts from Reiny, especially her blanket and dresser. Edna cared about the people she lived with and enjoyed the people she worked with. If someone was sick she offered up a prayer. Edna took a lot of pride in helping around the house, especially folding towels and setting and clearing the table.
Edna is survived by her step-brother, Reinhold (Elma) Delzer, Aberdeen, S.D.; a step-sister, Verna Roswick, Bullhead City, Ariz., and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
